Everyone seems to have one or two foods that remind them of
the good old days, and I’m no exception. My comfort food is hot
and spicy yukgaejang served with a bowl of rice.

Yukgaejang reminds me of the days when I lived with my
grandmother in Jecheon. She made it by putting a lot of green
onions, mushrooms, and beef in a pot and boiling them for a
long time. I want to eat it especially when I don’t feel well. A
spoonful of her yukgaejang was enough to battle the toughest
cold.

I can still feel the warmth of my grandmother’s hot yukgaejang.
